The History:
The J.S. Schramm House was built in the 1860's by John Siegmund Schramm, founder of the Schramm Department Store. The brick first floor with clapboard siding on the second floor, distinguishes this Queen Anne Victorian from the other homes in the area. Vertical board and batten adorn the gable ends. Bargeboards decorate the gable ends and the tower, which also boasts two plaster suns. The home was originally built as a multi-generational home and later in response to a housing shortage, became an apartment house. In 1990, restoration was begun to return the home to a single family residence.
