Franklin Victorian BnB in Sparta
Reminiscent
of bygone eras of elegance when Sparta, Wisconsin, was the
hub of social life, enticing people to its mineral water and spas, the house
still boasts of such splendid woods. Some of Sparta, Wisconsin's finest
treasures are located near Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast. Sparta is known
as the "Bicycling Capital of America." We are just a few blocks from
Elroy-Sparta State Bike Trail, which offers 32 miles of trail ride through
spectacular foliage, tunnels. Some things to do: Amish
tours, Open Houses & Book Signing Events and Murder Mystery Weekends. After
an estimated ten years of construction, The W.G. Williams house was completed
in the early 1900s. When the Williams family lived there, Victorian elegance
was prominent in Sparta.
They were quite involved in local social circles and hosted many elegant
affairs. The interior displays several different types of wood, including black
ash, curly birch; quarter cut white oak and maple. The Victorian flavor is also
noted in the large oak sliding doors and the open wooded staircase. Original
leaded window in the dining room, and many of the original filigreed brass
light fixtures still exist. A magnificent sunset stained glass window adorns
the west wall and ceramic tile functional fireplaces are found in the living
room and master bedroom guest room. Jennifer & Steve Dunn, their children
Kayla and Nicholas moved to Sparta, in 2002 from Des Moines, Iowa, where they had
lived for 14 years. Jennifer, with her Interior Design background has always
wanted to have a Bed & Breakfast. With their love of the Midwest and family ties in
the area, they decided The Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast was for them.
By fulfilling their dream, their motto became "To Build A Dream On".
Jennifer and Steve look forward to having you as their guests.
